ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It no longer houses an NFL team and doesn’t have a name on its roof, but St. Louis convention officials say the Dome at America’s Center is still a busy place and is generating revenue.

Some point to this week’s Southern Baptist Convention and the upcoming Reach Conference and Unique Products convention, each of which will draw between 13,000 and 20,000 people, and utilize the dome’s floor and seating.
Explore St. Louis Vice President of Sales John Battag, tells KMOX, not having football in the way is already paying off.
“Now, I don’t have that problem,” Battag says. “I don’t have to hold out until the dates are set for the NFL, which usually happens sometime in April. Now, we are already positioning those dates well into the future.”
Among the events scheduled during football season are the Beyoncé concert in September and something called Geekonomicon, a comic-con-like event scheduled for October.
“That’s taking what would have been an NFL set of dates,” Battag says. “And then in December, the Gateway Dirt Nationals, which is an indoor, sort of modified stock car race.”
Battag says having the Dome connected to the convention center creates a unique space.
“We are one of the only convention centers that has that scenario,” Battag says. “The connectivity isn’t perfect and that’s something that into the future, we want to look into.”
Convention officials have included improving the connectivity in plans to upgrade the dome and convention center.
