Magic House Expects to Break Jumping Jack World Record

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – You have a chance to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records with the Magic House this Saturday before the St. Louis Rams preseason game.

All it takes is to be at the Edward Jones Dome at 10 a.m. and do jumping jacks for two minutes with about 2,000 other people.

Carrie Hutchcraft, spokeswoman for the Magic House, says it’s not a well-known fact, but Missouri’s state exercise is the jumping jack.

The current world record is held by the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association in Japan, with 1,368 participants jumping together in March 2015.

The Magic House is selecting 1,000 students who participated in its summer challenge called ‘St. Lou is Jumping’ to help break a new record, but anyone can join in.

“And as part of that process, an official Guinness judge actually makes sure that we have had active participation from that set number of individuals for that full 2 minutes in order to make it an official Guinness World Record,” Hutchcraft says.

Saturday’s event is free, but pre-registration is required at the Magic House’s website. Everyone who takes part will receive free tickets to a future Rams game and a free “St. Lou is jumping” T-shirt.
