ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A longtime critic of using taxpayer funding for stadiums is saying good riddance to the St. Louis Rams if they do end up going to L.A.
Fred Lindecke is with the group Coalition Against Public Funding for Stadiums.
“If the reports are true, and Mr. Kroenke and his partners are ready to build a stadium in Los Angeles without any tax money, and therefore, the threat that the taxpayers are going to get hit again in St. Louis – St. Louis County in Missouri, is gone,” he says.
Lindecke says even if the Rams leave, the public will still be paying $24 million a year on the bonds issued to build the Edward Jones Dome for another seven years.
“The city survived when the Cardinals left for seven years, and so now, if the Rams actually leave, we’ve been there, we’ve done that, we can survive,” he says.
